Lorien's friend Kathryn was in from out of town over Presidents' Day weekend. On Saturday we drove to the Muir Beach overlook, just north of Muir Beach, near Muir Woods in Marin County, which is north of San Francisco, across the Golden Gate.
From there we hiked a bit north to Slide Ranch, and then descended down to the beach to explore the tidepools at low tide.
On the way back we stopped at the Golden Gate Bridge, and hiked out to the halfway point and back.
While we don't have any pictures of the experience, I ought to also mention that on the way back we stopped at Bittersweet Cafe in Rockridge, which serves the best damn cup of hot chocolate that you can possibly imagine. It's been there for a few years now, and we've been meaning to go, but somehow had never gotten around to it. Wow did we not realize what we were missing. Go there. It's amazing.
